MATERIALS & DOCUMENTATION

Know the components.
Know the claim.

A crystal product should be described at component level. A bead, a collar base and a metal fitting have different materials, and the evidence for one does not automatically describe the others.

MATERIAL NAME GUIDE

Clear English names for the components.

We use familiar gemstone names first, followed by a short explanation of the material. For example, lavender amethyst means pale purple quartz, while clear quartz is also called rock crystal. Scientific classifications and supplier wording are provided here for reference; provisional names remain identified as such.

Supplier wordingCommon name & plain-English meaningWhat the name means
海蓝宝 / 海蓝宝石AquamarineBlue to greenish-blue beryl. GIA: Aquamarine Description
白水 / 白水晶Clear quartz (rock crystal)Colourless quartz; faceted describes the cut. GIA: Amethyst — a Variety of Quartz
紫水晶 / 紫水Amethyst (purple quartz)Purple quartz. “Lavender” is a colour description when amethyst is explicitly named. GIA: Amethyst Description
薰衣草紫水晶Lavender amethyst (pale purple quartz)“Lavender” describes the light purple colour of amethyst; it is not a separate mineral species. GIA: Amethyst Description
茶晶 / 茶水晶Smoky quartzA quartz variety; retain the supplier’s colour description. GIA: Amethyst — a Variety of Quartz
粉水晶Rose quartzPink quartz; do not use this name for an unspecified pink bead. GIA: Amethyst — a Variety of Quartz
绿萤石 / 拉丝黄萤石Green fluorite / Yellow fluoriteFluorite is calcium fluoride, not quartz. The supplier’s “lasi” descriptor does not establish a surface-brushing process. Handbook of Mineralogy: Fluorite
岫玉Xiuyu jade (serpentine)Xiuyu jade is the commercial name usually used for serpentine stone. The mineral name remains visible to distinguish it from jadeite and nephrite. Sample identity still needs supporting information. GIA: Polymer-Coated Serpentine
金丝玉Jinsi jade (quartz-based stone)A quartz aggregate: stone made up of quartz grains. Jinsi jade is the commercial name; it does not mean jadeite or nephrite. Journal of Gems and Gemmology: Mineralogical Characteristics of Jinsiyu (Quartz)
银曜石 / 双猫眼银曜石Silver-sheen obsidianObsidian is volcanic glass. “Double cat-eye” is the supplier’s appearance description, not a separate mineral. GIA: Fire Obsidian’s Beguiling Spectrum
白月光White moonstoneA feldspar gemstone; exact variety and treatment require product information. GIA: Moonstone Description
蓝晶石 / 葡萄石 / 孔雀石Kyanite / Prehnite / MalachiteThese are established English mineral names. China University of Geosciences Press: Gemmology, 4th edition

Product names such as Sky & Buttercup or Fern Companions describe a design or colour story. They are not mineral identifications.

IDENTIFICATION PENDING

Names that need a closer check.

Colour and commercial labels cannot always be converted to one gemstone name. This is how we handle those labels while awaiting product-specific identification.

Supplier labelWhat needs to be confirmed
lavender purple
薰衣草紫
Likely shorthand for lavender amethyst (pale purple quartz), based on related listings from the same supplier. For GK-100299, this is a provisional interpretation awaiting confirmation of the 11 mm bead. GIA: Amethyst Description
strawberry quartz
草莓晶
The name can refer to inclusion-bearing quartz or a quartz aggregate (quartzite / aventurine quartz). Confirm which material the beads are and identify inclusions if required. Journal of Gems and Gemmology: Micaceous Quartzose Jade — Strawberry Crystal
white snowflake phantom
白雪花幽灵
White phantom is a name for inclusion-bearing quartz, but the exact supplier component and whether its pattern is natural require confirmation. Journal of Gems and Gemmology: Identification Characteristic of Artificial Phantom Crystal
white snowflake
白雪花
This abbreviated appearance name does not uniquely establish quartz or any inclusion mineral. Journal of Gems and Gemmology: Identification Characteristic of Artificial Phantom Crystal
white Aze
白阿塞
Azeztulite is a trade label for quartz. The supplier’s abbreviation “Aze” does not by itself confirm the full name or these beads’ mineral identity. Mindat: Azeztulite
purple Aze
紫阿塞
No unique mineral identity established for this supplier label. Do not assume amethyst from colour alone. Mindat: Azeztulite
lemon-yellow Aze
柠檬黄阿塞
No unique mineral identity or colour-treatment information established. Do not automatically rename citrine. Mindat: Azeztulite
yellow Aze
黄阿塞
No unique mineral identity established for this supplier label. Mindat: Azeztulite
black-gold Super Seven
黑金超七
Super Seven is used for included quartz, but does not confirm seven minerals or the composition of these particular beads. Journal of Gems and Gemmology: Identification Characteristic of Artificial Phantom Crystal
Super Seven
超七
A commercial description of included quartz; host and inclusion identities still need to be tied to the supplied beads. Journal of Gems and Gemmology: Identification Characteristic of Artificial Phantom Crystal
Huangtajing / yellow tower crystal
黄塔晶
No one-to-one mineral identification established. Do not assume citrine, natural colour, or untreated material.
yellow Jiaohua
黄胶花
Exact host, inclusions and any treatment remain unconfirmed. A floral appearance is not proof of natural inclusions. GIA: Manufactured Inclusions in Gem Materials
Jiaohua
胶花
Exact host, inclusions and any treatment remain unconfirmed. GIA: Manufactured Inclusions in Gem Materials
lemon jade
柠檬玉
The colour-based name is insufficient to identify one mineral. Do not convert it to serpentine, quartz or nephrite without supporting information.
grapefruit pink
西柚粉
A colour label; do not automatically rename rose quartz.
Qiangwei
蔷薇石
The abbreviated name is insufficient to distinguish rhodonite, rose quartz or another material. Request the full identification. China University of Geosciences Press: Gemmology, 4th edition
Qingjing
青晶石
Do not silently correct 青晶石 to 青金石 (lapis lazuli) or 蓝晶石 (kyanite). Confirm the original name.
lemon-yellow crystal
柠檬黄水异形
Yellow quartz may be intended by the supplier shorthand, but mineral identity and treatment remain unconfirmed.
lemon-yellow crystal
柠檬黄水
The shorthand does not establish a confirmed citrine identification or natural yellow colour.
milky-white crystal
奶白晶
Milky quartz may be intended; confirm the full mineral name. The original 12m size entry also requires clarification.

Lavender amethyst is our customer-facing name for supplier-listed 薰衣草紫水晶. Where the supplier wrote only 薰衣草紫, we show the likely interpretation with a provisional note; the similarity of photographs alone is not a mineral identification.

NATURAL MATERIALS

Natural origin and treatment are separate questions.

When natural origin matters to your range, identify the bead or component concerned and ask for supporting information for that material. “Natural” should not be used as a shortcut for “untreated”, a particular country of origin, or a quality grade.

A finished collar or bracelet can combine different materials. The presence of supplier-listed natural stones does not make the strap, metal findings or every accent bead a natural gemstone. We do not describe the whole collection as universally untreated or independently certified.

Appearance variation

Tone, transparency, inclusions and internal patterns may vary between pieces. Review a representative sample and agree acceptable variation before preparing product photography or committing to repeat stock.

Components beyond the beads

Request additional specifications where your market requires them, such as alloy composition, coatings or strap materials. A gem identification report does not establish the performance of a clasp, stitching or leash.

REQUESTING DOCUMENTS

Tie the report to the product.

If your purchasing decision or retail claim depends on a report, include that request in the enquiry before ordering. The useful question is which item or component the report identifies, and whether it applies to the sample or order you are buying.

  • State the product reference and the component you want assessed.
  • Ask for the issuing laboratory, report number and a legible copy of the complete report.
  • Compare the description, photograph, weight or measurements with the tested item.
  • Check what the report says about identification and any treatment information; do not assume omitted information has been verified.
  • Agree any additional testing needed for your destination before the order is confirmed.

Supplier-held documents can be requested for review. A report for one sample is not presented here as blanket coverage for every style, component or future batch.

BUYER QUESTIONS

Clear answers for accurate listings.

Does every piece come with a certificate?

An individual certificate for every finished piece is not included as a standard promise. State the product, component and document you require so availability, test scope and cost can be confirmed for the order.

Can I use the supplier’s material names in my listings?

Use the material description agreed for the exact product and supported by the information available to you. Where a name is a trade label rather than a confirmed mineral identity, retain that distinction. Do not translate a colour description into a different gemstone name.

Are origin, grade or wellness benefits claimed?

We do not make collection-wide claims about a mine, country of origin, gemstone grade or healing effect. This catalogue describes the products, appearance and supplier-listed components to support a wholesale selection.

What if my market requires a particular laboratory report?

Name the laboratory or document requirement, the intended market and the exact component in your enquiry. Existing paperwork may not meet a buyer-specific requirement; additional testing needs its own scope and agreement.

LET’S WORK TOGETHER
